Foam Roofing Systems

Major Building

What Can Sprayed Polyurethane Foam Insulating Systems Do For You

With its versatility, unique physical characteristics and impressive track record, a Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) roofing system provides you with a long list of problem-solving benefits that distinguish it from other roofing materials.

  • Stops air infiltration, the number one culprit of energy loss.
  • Durable, reflective coating keeps your roof cool.
  • Provides a seam-free insulating barrier against the elements.
  • Applies easily to save you time and money

Energy Efficiency

SPF's closed cell structure stops air infiltration, the chief culprit of most energy loss. Because SPF is fully adhered to the roofing surface, there are no attachment screws providing thermal shorts that could rob energy efficiency from your building and no unsightly screws visible from inside the building. In addition to its other benefits, SPF is seamless, closed-cell insulation. A one-inch thickness has an insulating R-value of 6. When you install SPF over an existing roof, you retain the pre-existing R-value, as well as adding to it.

Foam BeforeReflective, Durable Protective Coating

An important part of every foam roofing system is a high-quality protective coating, such as:

  • Benchmark® premium acrylic elastomeric roof coating
  • Rapid Roof® III acrylic elastomeric roof coating
  • Prime Time® Plus acrylic foam coating

These coatings cure to form a seamless, flexible covering that protects the foam from exposure to moisture and sunlight. Plus, the reflective white finishes help make the system even more energy efficient. These highly reflective Energy Star rated coatings reflect away as much as 85 percent of the sun's ultraviolet rays, keeping the roof's surface and the work or living space below more comfortable. This reflectivity pays big dividends on those hot summer days and the added insulation value of SPF provides huge savings in every season.

Foam BeforeSeamless Flexible Protection

Seams are one of the major sources of leaks in many roofing systems. Constant expansion and contraction of a building over time exposes these areas to relentless pressure that will eventually open up these seams causing leaks. SPF systems are totally seamless, eliminating a seam leak from your long list of worries. Taking it a step further, SPF's closed cellular structure does not allow water to travel laterally, unlike other roofing systems.

Did You Know

  • The Federal Government and many regional utility companies are offering rebates to building owners for the installation of energy efficient roofing systems, such as SPF.
  • Most typical roofing systems have thousands of linear feet of seams and hundreds of mechanical fasteners - all prime candidates for future leaks.
  • The seamless system reduces the need for repairs, but if mechanical damage does occur, it can usually be repaired with only a caulk gun and sealant. And unlike some systems, foam roofing can be recoated with ease, extending the life of the roof for years to come.
  • Polyurethane Foam's (PUF) light weight can reduce costly structural requirements and its superior insulating capabilities allow the building owner to downsize heating and cooling equipment without compromising on performance
  • As the costs of heating and cooling buildings keep climbing, many owners are choosing foam roofing because of its outstanding insulating properties. Unlike other roof systems, the entire thickness of a foam roof provides insulating value

building 1Easy to Repair or Modify

A leak in a competitive system will facilitate the spread of water to other areas of the system, saturating the insulation and causing multiple interior leaks. With SPF, even if a hole is punched completely through the foam membrane, water intrusion will be isolated to the penetration. In most cases, repairs can be made with a tube of caulk. Typical roofing problem areas such as roof-walls are self-flashed during application. Foam is easy to cut and replace when vent stacks or other roof penetrations need to be moved or replaced to fit new operational needs.

Save Time And Money

Because the SPF roof is lightweight and fully adhered, it can be applied over the existing roofing system in many cases. If underlying areas of moisture are found in the old roof, minimal tear-off may be required. Workplace disruption is another major, but often overlooked, expense for the building manager or owner. SPF roofing is much less disruptive to the work or living space below since tear-off is minimal. No more exposing your building's contents to the elements resulting in business interruptions. Also, projects can be completed more quickly because application is quieter, quicker and requires less labor.

Layers
  1. White Reflective Top Coat
  2. Acrylic Base Coat
  3. Closed cell foam (any leakage remains localized)
    • R-6 per inch (insulated for year-round energy efficiency)
    • No seams to leak
    • No fasteners (lack of thermal shorts)
    • Tough surface that withstands foot traffic
    • Easily repaired if damaged
    • Sustainable - can be recoated, for years of extended life

Metal Roof System

building 1What is Metal Roof Restoration?

A complete waterproofing system for metal roofs that inhibits rust, stops leaks and provides an energy efficient, long-lasting and attractive finish coat for years of service. All seams are strengthened with fabric reinforcement embedded in our acrylic elastomeric roof coating. Exposed fasteners are sealed from the elements with premium caulking. Finally, the entire surface of the roof is protected with one of the industry-leading roof coatings. The system is an effective method for preserving an existing metal roof without the need for costly metal repair or replacement.

What can this system do for your?

  • Stop leaks at seams where they most occur
  • Extend the life of your roof
  • Overcome metal design flaws
  • Reduce air conditioning costs

Prevents Leaks

Protect your roof from the elements with a highly durable, seamless membrane. Stop leaks where they occur most by sealing all seams, fasteners and penetrations with a combination of the best acrylic elastomeric coatings on the market strengthened with fabric reinforcement. This ensures that the elements can't get to your most valuable items.

Extend your Roof's Life

MR Systems offer additional benefits beyond stopping leaks and inhibiting rust. Our highly reflective roof coatings reduce the destructive thermal shock experienced by metal roofs during extreme fluctuations in temperature. This minimizes the amount of expansion and contraction experienced by the roof and greatly increases its usable life.

Save Money by Saving Energy

The highly reflective coating also provides significant energy savings. By reflecting up to 85 percent of the sun's ultraviolet energy rather than absorbing it in the form of heat, ISF Energy Star roof coatings can drastically reduce cooling costs. The benefit can be felt in a cooler living or workspace and in your pocketbook.

Our three exceptional roof coatings are designed to meet the needs of your particular project. Benchmark®, our premier coating offers the ultimate in flexibility and strength, Rapid Roof® III, the workhorse of the line and Rapid Roof® HV, our economical alternative, delivering quality with the costly code approvals and fire ratings.

Metal Roof System Application

  1. Primer: After proper surface preparation, rusted surfaces are primed with Metal Ready® WB Rust inhibiting metal primer.
  2. Caulking: All fastener heads are caulked with Kwik Kaulk® Fastener Grade to prevent leaks.
  3. Seam Treatment: All metal seams are waterproofed with butyl tape or durable Spunflex® fabric sandwiched between two layers of base coat.
  4. Finish Coat: We apply a white, reflective top coat for durability and energy efficiency.

Tested, Proven, Trusted

Our Roofing Systems have been tested, proven and trusted by building owners nationwide since 1977. Our systems are tested and approved by major code approval agencies, such as Factory Mutual (FM) and Underwriters' Laboratories (UL), Architects, specifiers, building owners, and facility managers around the country rely on these roofing systems to protect the valuable contents of their buildings.

Affordable Quality

Metal Roofing Systems are designed to provide long term performance at a fraction of the cost of metal replacement. Additionally, there are financial benefits to the metal roof restoration systems. Metal roof restoration can be expensed as a repair or maintenance cost while roof replacement must be capitalized.
